The 12th edition of the Rampigada Santa concluded with great success.
On Sunday, September 17, 2023, the hill climb of Trieste's most feared ascent, Scala Santa, was once again renewed.
The twelfth edition of Rampigada Santa, held on September 17, 2023, on the historic climb that connects Roiano to the Obelisk of Opicina, was a success.
There were four overall winners, Laura Ukovich, Chiara Sepin, Elia Carta, and Martino De Nardi, respectively in the categories of female cyclist, female runner, male cyclist, and male runner. The best time was achieved by Elia Carta, who completed the two kilometers in just 10 minutes and 18 seconds.
The prizes dedicated to the Santo Duathlon were highly regarded, dedicated to athletes who decided to compete in both specialties. Laura Ukovich once again won ahead of Michela Facchin, and Miran Bole ahead of Fabrizio Micolaucich. The prize dedicated to participants in the two Spiz-sponsored events, the Clanfe Olympics and Rampigada Santa, was also highly sought after. In this Triestine "iron woman" and "iron man" competition, Michela Facchin and Mario Tutone triumphed ahead of Massimiliano Di Donato.
Prizes were also awarded for each age category, as well as special prizes for the youngest and oldest participants, aged 5 and 83, respectively.
The Morbin Prize for the most entertaining performance was won by the Papaya Skiers group, who decided to tackle the course in full ski gear, complete with ski boots, on a sunny day. The Spiz-Jure Polonio Prize was won by Simon and Nina Gergolet, a father and two-year-old daughter who completed the route together both on a bicycle and on foot.
Finally, the Cagoia Prize, dedicated to the slowest athlete, was won by Guido Giadrossi, a longtime participant.
The event, which saw the participation of 240 athletes, was characterized by the usual atmosphere of a popular celebration, with many participants focusing not so much on athletic performance but on the desire to be together and have fun. There's the story of Anna Marie Liebelt, a French girl in Trieste for a year, who decided to participate completely barefoot, fully embracing the spirit of Rampigada. Various "pranks" were directed at the cable car, with participants gifting hard-boiled eggs along the route or even dressing up as chickens. Costumes were not in short supply, and some chose to climb while simulating a rugby match.
At the Obelisk, in a splendid setting free from its usual parking role, the actual celebration took place, featuring the Oktoberfest kiosk managed by Mladina, Sharon's massage stand, Agmen's booth, the award ceremony, and a strong desire to be together, which began on Saturday evening with the Strawberry Skies concert.
The appointment is set for 2024, with a Rampigada Santa that continues to be a great opportunity for both sports and cultural aggregation.
